The Government's ‘Sustainable Buildings Task Group’ reported that no one body or organisation was providing clear direction for the sector as a whole. The UK Green Building Council was established to fulfil this role. The UK-GBC have worked and continue to do so on a Code for Sustainable Homes.
The Energy Saving Trust will include materials used within their criteria and metal roofing and cladding will be highly rated in their external insulation criteria, read more here.

Carbon Trust would consider metal roofing and cladding as part of a refurbishment for the betterment of energy usage and overall environmental impact improvements with a 0% loan up to £100k for installing an energy saving insulating metal roof and cladding. Read more about their iniatives here.
